Friday, April 17, 2009
JEFFERSON CITY – Invest in Missouri, Senate Bill 542, passed the Missouri Senate unanimously on Thursday. The passage of the bill puts State Treasurer Clint Zweifel’s plan to create and retain jobs and reinvest $1 billion in Missouri communities one step closer to law.
“All along this bill has been about rebuilding our economy and putting Missourians back to work by expanding the Missouri Linked Deposit Program and reinvesting in our community banks,” Treasurer Zweifel said. “Invest in Missouri found great support in the Senate, and I look forward to working with the House to see that we can reinvest $1 billion in Missouri.”
Sen. David Pearce, R-Warrensburg is the sponsor of SB 542. The Missouri Bankers’ Association and Missouri Independent Bankers’ Association are also supporters of the legislation.
